Star Trek Online Ship Tier Revamp

I’ve been following Star Trek Online for many years now and have been an avid fan of coming up with solutions to in game issues. One of the issues I have with Cryptics incarnation of Star Trek has always been the way the ships tier system worked. I’ve had a few ideas brewing on how I feel it should of been handled but never really knew how to write it all down. So today I decided to make a write up of my ideas. I’ve done it as an image because I feel that diagrams and visual examples are needed to really put this idea accross properly.

    My friend and I basically discussed the problems with the tiering system from day one. Our solutions never looked quite like this, but similar in effect. It’s definitely, I think, a problem, though not one I expect to ever be addressed. The appeal of selling uptiered variants in the C-Store in the future, I think, will most likely be simply too much for them.

    I had been pondering a kind of “Ship promotion” idea where inventive crews with new resources and discovered technology earned from missions work to upgrade the capabilities of their beloved vessel.
    I think this would work, if I can have my oberth as a vice admiral I would be very happy.
